Sheriff Paul C. May has released the following information:
On July 23, 2011, at approximately 5:59a.m., a single vehicle crash occurred on SE 128 Avenue approximately two (2) miles north of SR 710. The truck, driven by sole occupant, Pedro Juan Lopezdeharo was southbound on SE 128 Avenue in or near the 4300 block. The vehicle went off the west grassy shoulder of the roadway, then traveled southbound on the shoulder for approximately (500) feet. The driver overcorrected, coming back onto the roadway rotating counterclockwise and slid across both the southbound and northbound lanes of the road. In or near the 4400 block, the vehicle went off the roadway onto the grassy shoulder, overturning into the drainage ditch on the east side of SE 128 Avenue. The driver was ejected into the drainage ditch. The vehicle caught fire and came to rest on its right side. Lopezdeharo was treated by Okeechobee County Fire/Rescue and flew out by OMNIFlight to Lawnwood Medical Center, Ft. Pierce, Florida. The extent of the driver’s injuries are unknown.
